N2  - Sowohl mit dem 3. Road Safety Action Programme der Europäischen Kommission als auch mit dem deutschen Verkehrssicherheitsprogramm werden die verkehrspolitischen Zielsetzungen zur Erhöhung der Verkehrssicherheit in Europa und Deutschland festgelegt. Hierbei muss die passive Fahrzeugsicherheit auch weiterhin eine bedeutende Rolle übernehmen. Es ist jedoch auch festzustellen, dass durch den zunehmenden Einsatz von Elektronik im Fahrzeug die klassischen Bereiche der aktiven und passiven Fahrzeugsicherheit mehr und mehr ineinander greifen. Der Fortschritt in der Elektronik ermöglicht eine Integration der Systeme der aktiven und passiven Sicherheit. Dadurch lässt sich die Fahrzeugsicherheit weiter steigern. Durch die Vernetzung der Systeme lassen sich sogar Kosten einsparen. Der europäische Regierungsausschuss EEVC (European Enhanced Vehicle-safety Committee), die Verbraucherschutzorganisation Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) und die Europäische Kommission mit der eSafety Initiative haben diesen Trend erkannt und entsprechende Aktivitäten eingeleitet.
N2  - Traffic policy goals for improving road safety in Europe and Germany are laid down in the European Commission's 3rd Road Safety Action Programme and in the German Road Safety Programme (Deutsches Verkehrssicherheitsprogramm). Secondary vehicle safety must continue to play a significant role in this regard. It is, however, evident that the increasing use of electronics in vehicles means that there is an increasing overlap between the classic areas of primary and secondary vehicle safety. The progress in electronics makes it possible to integrate systems from the primary and secondary safety sectors. This allows further improvements in vehicle safety to be made and even enables costs to be reduced due to the systems being combined. The European government committee EEVC (European Enhanced Vehicle-safety Committee), the consumer protection organisation Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme) and the European Commission with the eSafety initiative recognized this development and started corresponding activities.
