N2  - Die Elemente der Platingruppe, eingesetzt als Katalysatoren in Abgas-Konvertern, reduzieren unerwünschte gasförmige (NOx, KW, CO) sowie Dioxin- und PAK (polycyclische aromatische Kohlenwasserstoff)-Emissionen. PGE (Platingruppenelemente) besitzen einige aus humantoxikologischer Sicht kritisch zu bewertende Eigenschaften. Beim regelmäßigen Umgang mit Platinverbindungen treten häufig allergische Reaktionen von Hautreizungen bis zu asthmaähnlichen Erstickungsanfällen auf, auch wurden Anzeichen für kanzerogene Wirkungen vermutet. Die Ergebnisse der durchgeführten Literaturanalyse lassen den Schluss zu, dass die emittierte Menge an PGE für Mensch und Umwelt unerheblich und die Einführung von PGE-Grenzwerten für Böden oder organische Reststoffe nicht erforderlich ist.
N2  - The elements of the platinum group, used as catalysts in exhaust converters, reduce undesired gaseous (NOx, KW, CO) emissions as well as dioxin and PAH (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) emissions. PGEs (platinum group elements) have some properties which are to be regarded critically from the point of view of human toxicology. Regular exposure to platinum compounds often produces allergic reactions, from skin irritations to suffocation attacks similar to asthma , carcinogenic effects are also suspected. The results of the literature analysis carried out permit the conclusion to be drawn that the amount of PGEs emitted is insignificant for people and the environment and the introduction of PGE limit values for soil or residual organic substances is not necessary.
