N2  - Im Rahmen eines Pilotversuches wurden auf der A 24 auf einem 35,9 km langen Streckenabschnitt Rüttelstreifen in den Seitenstreifen eingefräst. Hintergrund der Maßnahme war die Erprobung von längs zur Fahrbahn eingefrästen Rüttelstreifen zur Senkung der Unfallzahlen, insbesondere der ermüdungsbedingten Unfälle mit Abkommen von der Fahrbahn. Um die Wirksamkeit der Rüttelstreifen zu beurteilen, wurde ein Vorher-Nachher-Vergleich mit Kontrollstrecke durchgeführt. Im Ergebnis konnte gezeigt werden, dass sich der Einfluss der Maßnahme auf spezielle Unfallkollektive beschränkt. Das größte Potenzial von Rüttelstreifen liegt in der Reduktion der Unfälle mit Abkommen von der Fahrbahn nach rechts. Für Unfälle dieser Art konnte ein maßnahmebedingter Rückgang um 43 Prozent festgestellt werden. Der Einsatz von eingefrästen Rüttelstreifen entlang des Seitenstreifens von Autobahnen wird deshalb empfohlen, insbesondere auf Streckenabschnitten mit einer hohen Anzahl von Unfällen mit Abkommen von der Fahrbahn nach rechts.
N2  - In the framework of a pilot trial rumble strips have been milled into the shoulder of the German motorway A 24 along a 35.9 km section. The target behind this measure was to test the effects of shoulder rumble strips on the crash figures, especially of crashes caused by fatigue. In order to determine the effectiveness of the shoulder rumble strips, a before-and-after investigation with control section was carried out. As a result, it could be shown that the impact of the measure is limited to special crash collectives. The biggest potential could be found in the reduction of run-off the road crashes with leaving the carriageway to the right. For this kind of crashes a decrease of 43 percent was determined. Due to this, the application of milled rumble strips on motorway shoulders is recommended, especially on route sections which show a disproportionally high crash density of run-off the road crashes with leaving the carriageway to the right.
